These improvements will enhance our facilities and your overall station experience. Much of the work has been developed following passenger and local community feedback, including suggestions through the Passenger Benefit Fund.
We know that improving accessibility at stations is important to you, so it is a priority for us. As examples, we are improving wayfinding signs, accessible toilet facilities, and fitting automatic doors. We are also working hard to improve the sustainability of our stations by installing water butts, LED lighting, solar panels and facilities for cyclists.
We’ve already delivered several station improvements, featuring toilets, benches, cycle racks, waiting rooms, subways and defibrillators. And, often with the help of the local community, we’ve turned stations into more attractive places with murals, creative signs, planting and repainting across the Southern, Thameslink and Great Northern networks. A few examples are a new mural at Palmers Green, a new sign on Cricklewood Railway Bridge, and a water butt at Angmering station, providing an environmentally friendly water source for our station garden.
We will update the list each month to include any changes or new improvements that have been added to the programme. You will see more of what this means for you at your local station in the near future.
